Palma's Profile
Palma and her late husband, George, started square dancing in 1991, with several of their aviation friends, on a dare from another couple - after the first class they were hooked and flying high. They attended caller school in 1996 and in 1999 were invited to call for the Hi-Land Swingers Square Dance Club in Calgary, succeeding their mentors, Art & Collette McMullen. In addition to being Club caller for the Hi-Land Swingers where she teaches & calls Mainstream, cues Phase 2 rounds and prompts Contras, Palma also enjoys visits to other Clubs throughout Calgary and Alberta as guest caller. She has called at several Provincial & National Conventions across Canada and treasures the many friendships she has made throughout the square dance community.
When she is not calling, Palma is a Flight Instructor and Pilot Examiner, enjoys flying her airplane to destinations throughout Canada and the U.S. and is a volunteer for several charitable organizations in Turner Valley, Alberta where she currently resides - she also enjoys hiking, sea kayaking and quilting.
