Square Dance Calgary; The Calgary and District Square and Round Dancers Association: Square Dance Clubs; Dots and Dashers Square Dance Club, Calgary


The Dots & Dashers Square Dance Club was organized on February 22, 1963 by a small group of dancers who enjoyed square dancing and were intersted in adding new activities to the North Glenmore Community Association in Lincoln Park - Lakeview district. Jim & Freda Stoner were invited to be the caller and accepted. The Dots & Dashers name, colors and badge were soon worked out and became official. The beginners kick-off dance was held on September 21, 1963. So the Dots & Dashers Square Dance Club took its place as one of the upcoming clubs in Calgary and at one time was one of the largest clubs in the city. The club still exists today and has had seven callers before Tom & Maureen Dakers who are the present callers for the club.
Beginners: - The Dots and Dashers and Prairie Winds Beginners clubs dance Beginners every Monday from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm The start date is Sept. 15, 2008 and continues through April 2008 Beginners dance at Sunalta hall.
