PRAIRIE WINDS NOTICE OF INTENTION TO REORGANIZE DANCE NIGHTS beginning in September 2010
During the past several years the Prairie Winds Square Dance Club has lost many members due to illness, death, departures, and lack of new dancers or new dancers not returning. In order to cope with declining dancer numbers, the membership struck a Special Committee to consider the options for the club. The Special Committee has presented their findings to the Executive, who have determined some details for instituting the changes. These changes will take effect in September 2010 and will be followed until further notice.
The dance plan, to begin in September 2010 is as follows:
1. Dances will be held every Monday evening. New Dancer lessons will begin at 7 PM, followed by a Mainstream Dance, beginning at 8 PM. The half hour between 8 PM and 8:30 PM will constitute a workshop to develop the skills of all present. The New Dancers will be encouraged to stay until at least 8:30 and may stay longer as the year progresses and their skills grow. The Mainstream Dance will end at 10 PM.
2. There will be no introductory half hour of round dancing, but rounds will be cued during the mainstream portion of the evening.
3. Every person who attends our Monday Night dances, in whatever capacity, will be charged at the door. This includes New Dancers (who will pay in advance as now), Square Angels, Mainstream Dancers, and Visitors.
4. Sunalta Hall is booked on Monday nights for Prairie Winds' use.
5. Prairie Winds will operate New Dancer Lessons solo, without the participation of any other square dance club.
6. We invite all square dancers to dance with us on a Monday night, even if not on an official visitation. Visitors are asked to try to arrive promptly at 8 PM.
