Square Dance Calgary; The Calgary and District Square and Round Dancers Association, The Calgary Callers Association

Square Dancing is fun, great exercise and can be enjoyed by people from 5 to 95. The activity is broken down into several levels including Beginners, Mainstream, Plus, and Advanced. After dancers have learned the intricacies of the level of dancing they want to attain, they sometimes go on to learn Round Dancing (a type of ballroom dancing being directed by a caller or cuer) or clogging (a type of tap dancing directed by a caller or cuer). All these forms of dancing incorporate the latest popular music. There are Calgary Square Dance, Calgary Round Dance and Calgary Clogging clubs.

The Calgary & District Square & Round Danceers Association (C & D) is an association of square and round dance clubs in Calgary and the nearby surrounding area. Its purpose is to:

a. Provide for the square and round dance movements a structure whereby coordination of club activities may be enhanced.
b. Promote square and round dancing.
c. Encourage and promote communication between all clubs or associations involved in the square or round dance community and associated activities.

The primary objectives of C & D are the promotion of fellowship, encouragement of cooperation between clubs, in scheduling their activities and broadening the dance experience of local dancers.
