In each line, one couple is facing out of the square and one couple is facing in.

Lines Facing In

All dancers are facing into the square.

The Men are facing into the Circle and the Ladies are facing out.  The reverse is also possible.

Four Dancers form a single Wave in the middle. The other four dancers are in couples facing in.

This is a Right Hand Column, where all dancers are facing so that their Right Hands are in the middle of the formation. Left Hand columns are sometimes used.
